USING THE G3WCS (VER 2) FNDFIL SERVER WITH F6FBB BBS (VER 5.14D AND LATER)
==========================================================================
This server will allow you to send a message to this BBS and receive a reply
containing a list of textfiles from a given directory, each containing a
certain word or group of words, referred to as a string, within their text.
The available drives and directories may be obtained by sending a REQDIR
message (which is described in the document REQDIR.DOC). The file will
then be automatically forwarded back to your home BBS.
The message format is as follows:-
Address : SP FNDFIL @ GB7$$$
Title : DRIVE:\DIRECTORY\SUB DIRECTORY\SEARCH STRING @ GB7###
Message text : Either /EX or CONTROL Z
The callsign GB7$$$ is that of the mailbox from where you wish the listing
to be obtained.
Here are two examples of the title line :-
C:\MODS\AUTOMATIC GAIN CONTROL @ GB7CHS or
D:\ATARI\DOUBLE DENSITY
In the first example the C:\MODS directory will be searched for all files
containing the string "AUTOMATIC GAIN CONTROL". The resulting list of files
will be sent to you at GB7CHS, regardless of which mailbox you used to enter
your request. In the second example you would receive a list of the files
in the D:\ATARI directory containing the string "DOUBLE DENSITY", addressed
to you at the mailbox where you entered your request. If none of the files
match your search criteria you will be sent a message to that effect.
It is important that you fully understand how the search is made. The
actual message text, not the title, is checked for a match. The search is
case insensitive, which means that TS430S, ts430s or even Ts430S, will
produce the same result. However punctuation IS important, so TS430S is not
the same as TS430 S or TS 430S. You will find that your searches are more
effective by using smaller strings and even parts of words. Thus a search
for TS430 would overcome the possibility of the trailing S having a space
before it.
In the title line, the @ GB7### is the callsign of the mailbox to which you
wish your reply to be forwarded. This item is optional, if you do not
include it your reply will be returned to the mailbox at which you entered
your request.
